The more the soulhead crew hears from JDanna, the more smitten we become with her divine vocal stylings. Hailing from South London, the precocious 19-year old songbird has been seducing ears for a few years now. Back in early 2012, perennial tastemaker Gilles Peterson of BBC 6 Music featured her reimagined version of the legendary Gil Scott-Herons Winter in America on his prestigious Worldwide Awards, invited her to perform in the Brownswood Basement later that year, and has been a passionate proponent of JDannas music ever since.
More recently, JDanna bestowed her vocals upon Bristol-bred producer Julio Bashmores stellar disco-house tunes Simple Love and Rhythm of Auld. And now, with credibility and high expectations firmly in place, she has unveiled her gloriously melodic debut single Gazing. Riding along an entrancing electro-soul soundscape, JDannas versatile voice shines and embodies an intriguing mix of confidence, sincerity, and vulnerability. Thirty seconds into the track, she reflects Sometimes I wonder where Im going with my life / Will I be successful or will I drown in strife? Heady stuff for someone who has yet to reach her twentieth birthday.
But based on this irresistible single available to stream below and as a free download here JDanna need not worry, as success beckons and the aforementioned strife should remain at bay. We cant wait to witness just how far her musical journey takes her, and hope you enjoy this lovely tune from a true talent as much as we do.
