This is a beautiful design by a talented artist who re-imagines great soul artists into beautiful visual arts. Amar Stewartt has amassed a credible and critically well reviewed body of work. Clearly, “Spaced Out Badu” speaks for itself, but the following comes directly from the site.
The original painting “Spaced out” was created for a group show titled “Found” in Spring 2014. The concept was for each artist to create original artwork on found objects from the streets of New York.
I came across an old vintage cabinet with pull out drawers so I painted an iconic image of Erykah Badu with her afro depicting a cosmos. The solid black space in her hair is replaced with stars and light colours going back to my early days of painting space themed women.
