Michael Jackson: Singer, Songwriter, American Inventor

We hail the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, for reshaping music and elevating performance to levels unlike any before or even after him. But what’s not well known about the late great is that in addition to his many musical talents, he was also an inventor, having patented the signature shoes from the “Smooth Criminal” that created an “anti-gravity illusion”.

You can learn more about the history of these shoes in this repost from Smithsonian.com – Michael Jackson: Singer, Songwriter, American Inventor, written by Jimmy Starp. And, what’s more exciting, according to the article,  the patent is in display at the Smithsonian, so all of you in the DC area are in for a great treat!

We want to thank soulhead Anthony Tmor Morris for informing us about this!
