Bay Area native Keyshia Cole just dropped a new album, Woman to Woman. This album shows just how much Keyshia has grown as a woman since her 2005 debut, The Way It Is.

Woman to Woman is all about love and infidelity. On her debut, Keyshia screamed that all men were dogs and that she should have cheated on track after track; she wasn’t the greatest singer, but her realness was so relatable and her rawness so sincere that most fans still showed her love.

On her latest effort, Cole attempts to deal with love and broken hearts in a classier way. Though she tries to paint a more sophisticated image of herself, tempering her usual hollering on tracks, Keyshia’s weak vocal ability becomes more and more evident as the album progresses. The album is a testament to her effort to grow as an artist but there’s definitely still some work that needs to be done.

The production quality is the only real saving grace for this album. Woman to Woman is not a bad album, but it’s far from great.
