February 17, 2016
From classics like “Forget Me Nots” to “Haven’t You Heard” and many more, Patrice Rushen really bridged the gap between jazz, soul and pop. At the time, she had been a well respected session player and even rumored to have Prince crushing on her. Although she had her biggest hit with the aforementioned “Forget Me Nots” in 1982, she had actually released her first project eight years earlier with little to no critical acclaim or notice. During her assent to the top, it has been rumored that the Purple One himself, Prince, wrote his hit “I Wanna Be Your Lover” for her among others but they were rejected. OUCH! We can’t wait to learn more about the beautiful and talented sister, her rise to fame and ultimate fade from the spotlight. Tune in tonight on TVOne! Check your local listings for channel information.
