Prince Nearly Tops on Google’s List of Most Searched Terms of 2016

While we clearly love Prince, we were a bit surprised to see the Purple One come in at #2 on this year’s list of most searched terms on Google. As you can see from the list below, folks were definitely interested in the economic come up of the Powerball ($1.56 billion jackpot) and the election (“Donald Trump,” “Election,” and “Hillary Clinton”).   Besides that, the only other musician to rank was David Bowie who passed away shortly before Prince.  According to Time Magazine, “the term “trending” means that these words and phrases held the highest spike in traffic over a sustained period of time in 2016 as compared to 2015.”

Check out the list below:

1. Powerball
2. Prince
3. Hurricane Matthew
4. Pokémon Go
5. Slither.io
6. Olympics
7. David Bowie
8. Trump
9. Election
10. Hillary Clinton
