Kudos to friend of the site and fellow soulhead, Alison Crockett, for releasing such a wonderful political commentary in this track. Soulful, jazzy and full of the blues, this song, which is from Crockett’s latest project, Mommy, What’s a Depression?, makes you think. Between potent lyrics and soaring vocals, you can hear snippets from misguided politicians who sat by and watched as residents of New Orleans struggled to regain a sense of calm after Hurricane Katrina. Super well done.
