Thanks a ton for our new friend to the site, Philip Clark, who included one of our recent downloads by Erykah Badu on his site. While checking out his periodic list of top new music, we came across this really great EP, Metal Petals, by Chicago duo, Lili K & Peter Cottontale, among others.
This EP really moves us and is just the right of amount of old and new to pique the interest of the global soul community. Here is what NeoSoulCafe had to say about it:
Chicago based neo-soul/jazz singer, Lili K. has been building quite a name for herself since the release of her first project, A Prelude To Hello, in July of 2011. The charismatic 21 year old songstress, originally from Milwaukee, WI, USA, has a smooth and sultry voice that countered well by the hip hop driven rhythms that lie within her production.
We really dug the futuristic soul and down to earth feel of this exciting new offering. Peter Cottontale’s production aptly transports the listener into the sonic world he occupies with Lili K. It is at once playful, electronic and fun. Lili’s vocals are more than adequate and she is at home singing verses or hooks. There is a little of everything on this album and all of it comes across as well thought out and executed, which is more than you can say about a lot of music out there. We are excited about this new group and are sure you will be as well. We will stay tuned for sure.
