We are all waiting in anticipation of an incredible home-going ceremony as the Godfather of Go-Go Chuck Brown is set to be laid to rest in the coming days. According to local sources, The Washington Nationals, DC Major League Baseball team, Stadium is being consider as well as centrally located Verizon Center. Major crowds are expected for this funeral and DC’s Mayor Gray has confirmed that flags will be flown at half staff to commemorate the life and contributions of the late great Chuck Brown to the City.
Based on our knowledge of the city, we think Verizon Center or even DAR Constitution Hall could be good locations. The newly renovated Howard Theater near the U Street Corridor could also be a possibility. We will see. Whatever the locale, it will take a while to make a decision since the Verizon Center is privately owned vs. a city owned facility.
