Call us unabashedly nostalgic, but we cannot get enough of this four decades-old clip of the masterful Stevie Wonder on Soul Train that originally aired on January 13, 1973.* As he always has, the “8th Wonder of the World” dazzles with an energized performance of one of his myriad classics, “Superstition,” as well as an improvised piano hymn to Soul Train that reinforces his innate penchant for sublime songcraft.

Wonder also takes the time to answer a series of questions from host Don Cornelius and the original Soul Train Gang. With his signature soft-spoken eloquence and humility, the 22 year-old Wonder reflects upon his artistic development from his “Little Stevie” days, the inspirations behind his music and songwriting, and his decision to include braille on the album cover of his 1972 masterpiece Talking Book, among other topics.

Guaranteed to make you smile, the performance and interview can be enjoyed in full below.

*Note: The YouTube video erroneously lists the original air-date as 1971.
