The Original 7ven AKA The Time featuring Morris Day, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Jesse Johnson TEASER TRAILER

For years, we have been dreaming of this super group to really come back in its original form.  Like Aaron Hall sung in that song by Guy, “My dreams are now reality!”  All of the original band members of the Time have reunited.  One of the funkiest outfits to come out of the Minneapolis invasion of the ’80s, The Time personified Cool for young Black kids in ‘hoods across America, including mine on Capital Hill in Washington, D.C.  I recall my uncle, who was a DJ at the time, getting the Time’s first album and thinking the synth lines, bass and guitar were seriously reminiscent of another Twin Cities son, Prince.  As we would later learn, Prince was at the helm in the studio and The Time would emerge as the mirror image of Prince’s more testosterone filled alter-ego.  We are eagerly awaiting the music that is beginning to surface from this reunited powerhouse of a group.  Stay tuned!

Brian Bradley AKA The Astronomical Kid AKA Astro from Simon Cowell’s X-Factor – Stop Looking At My Mom! + FREE MP3 DOWNLOAD

If you are like us, then you were astounded at this young man, Brian Bradley from Brooklyn (home of soulhead.com), who absolutely floored the audience in Newark’s Prudential Center during the televised auditions on TV’s X-Factor. Prior to the taped performance, we get to meet Brian and hear of his desire to be bigger than Jay-Z and Kanye West, who recently released their duet album “Watch the Throne.” He could very well be on his way.

His performance began with an incredibly believable acting job where Brian seems genuinely angry at Simon, who seemed stunned, along with his co-hosts L.A. Reid, Nicole Scherzinger, Paula Abdul and the aforementioned Mr. Cowell. He ingeniously fused this stagecraft as the intro to his super cool “Stop Looking at My Mom”, a hip hop ode to his mother, who was in tears backstage with Brian’s step dad.

Brian proceeded to rip through this uncharacteristic performance of an original song and a rap song, both of which are typically precursors to the fat lady singing. However, with an old school boom bap production, solid lyrics, clear enunciation and a very strong hook, Brian had the crowd on its feet singing his refrain with him by the end. With so much of hip hop shrouded in materialism, it was really refreshing to hear such real talent with no curse words or negativity. It’s just a song about a son looking out for his mom. How sweet, pure, and in this case funky!
